Core Muscles are the central link connecting your upper and lower body.  Your core includes the muscles, bones and joints in your abdomen, back, sides, pelvis, buttocks and hips.  So no matter where motion starts, it ripples upward and downward through your core.  Weak or inflexible core muscles can impair how well your body functions.  However, a strong, flexible core underpins almost everything you do from dressing to on the job lifting.

Think Core Exercises For:

  • A strong healthy back.  Low back pain can be debilitating but prevented with exercises promoting core muscles.
  • Sports and Pleasurable Activities.  Golfing, swimming, biking, running, and other athletic activities are powered by a strong core.
  • Housework.  Actions such as bending, lifting, twisting, carrying and lifting overhead all pass through the core.  As much as we dislike vacuuming, dusting and mopping, these activities strengthen the core.
  • Balance and Stability.  Your core stabilizes your body.  A strong core can lesson your risk of falling.
  • Incontinence.  Losing control of  you bladder usually reflects weak pelvic core muscles.  Tune up these muscles with Kegel exercises.
  • Good Posture.  You Mom was correct is saying, “Stand up straight.”  Weak core muscles contribute to poor posture.  The better your posture, the less wear and tear on your spine.
